The Zakyanta Trophy was the design competetion for Archcult '14. Powered by Inkuse, the trophy aimed to provide participants with a brief that would give them the freedom to design with #NoConstraints while hoping that they had fun while doing so!

 

The site provided for the Zakyanta Design trophy was that of the Dasaprakash Hotel in Chennai. The hotel, which was once an immensely popular landmark, had lived out its glory years and gradually become defunct. The land was then unfortunately given away to real estate developers who are currently using it to create high-rise (taste-less and context-less) apartments.

 

The Zakyanta brief was crafted with the hope of hypothetically bringing a more context relevant design that could serve the surrounding neighbourhood. The participants were given 2 weeks to submit in their proposals.
